COMPLEX LITIGATION & CLASS ACTION

Complex litigation—class actions, representative actions, and mass actions—is not merely a more complicated version of non-complex litigation, it is a unique animal altogether, involving significantly different procedures and requiring a different approach. Turner Dhillon’s decades of experience both defending and prosecuting class actions, representative actions, and mass actions gives us extraordinary perspective, experience, and skill. Our attorneys have successfully defended and prosecuted myriad types of class actions, representative actions, and mass actions, including false advertising, unfair competition, employment, products liability, habitability, and other complex business litigation. We anticipate the strategy and moves of the other side, giving our clients a leg up in complex cases.

Trial Expertise

Unlike most other complex litigation attorneys, Turner Dhillon’s attorneys have defended and prosecuted complex cases, including class actions, through trial.  This trial experience demonstrates that we are willing and able to go to the distance.

In-House Counsel

Our attorneys also have experience as in-house counsel, working with outside counsel to defend against class actions, representative actions, and mass actions. This experience gives us an acute understanding of the challenges these cases pose and how to identify and keep at the forefront each company’s internal priorities. We understand that, for defendants, complex cases are costly to defend and feel like extortion or a shakedown. We know first-hand that often a company’s concerns and goals in defending complex cases go beyond winning at trial and always involve a sophisticated analysis of the economic realities. Accordingly, in addition to being ready and able to go to trial and win, Turner Dhillon’s attorneys are always working toward achieving the best settlement possible, as soon as possible.

Complex Cases

Turner Dhillon’s attorneys are tenacious and fearless in complex cases. For example, after having class certification initially denied, we obtained a reversal of the order denying class certification—Marler v. E.M. Johansing, LLC, 199 Cal. App. 4th 1450 (2011)—and after five years of litigation, we prevailed in a three-week trial, delivering more than $12 million in relief to more than 150 senior citizens.
