Professional Experience
Liza Brereton represents Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit corporations, small businesses, and individuals. She enjoys learning about each client’s goals and working together to achieve those goals. Ms. Brereton’s practice encompasses real estate litigation, including specific performance actions, commercial lease matters, corporate/business advice and counsel, intellectual property and right of publicity matters, business formation and dissolution, entertainment and sports matters, including boxing, and employment matters, including discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, misclassification, and wage and hour. Ms. Brereton also drafts, negotiates, and provides advice regarding contracts in a wide array of industries.
As lead counsel, Ms. Brereton has secured complete victories for her clients at trial and in arbitration. She also recognizes the value of negotiating favorable compromises.
In addition, Ms. Brereton conducts impartial workplace investigations of various sizes, including those involving managers, directors, and union employees. She also conducts workplace harassment-prevention training, drafts employment policies and procedures, and drafts website/app terms of use and privacy policies.
Ms. Brereton began her legal career at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, and she served as in-house Assistant General Counsel for several years, which gives her unique insight into clients’ perspectives.
Ms. Brereton is passionate about boxing and serves clients in the boxing profession. A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ms. Brereton also is an avid Wolverine fan. She also enjoys scuba diving, hiking, and attending concerts.
